J. Steve

A daily commuter and car-free for 15+ years, J.Steve volunteered as a marshal in his first Ride of Silence, and every year since. With Gary's big shoes to fill, and a goal of rallying participation of all cycling tribes, his goals are formidable. Many hands make light work.

Imagine 2,017 cyclists participating in 2017.

Organizer, Planning, Media Content and Graphic Design
Danica

With skills and experience in getting the message out, Danica stepped up after the 2016 ride. Taking on planning and organization, Seattle's 2017 rider experience will be engineered from start to finish anew. All great news!

Looking forward to what's in store for the next Ride of Silence.

Inspiration | Riding in Spirit
Gary Strauss (2006-2011)

Seeing the need to have a local Ride of Silence, Gary took on the adventurous task of growing Seattle's 2006 ride, and lead the way.

Gary rode when he could, but always advised and encouraged, even as he was fighting cancer. Gary passed peacefully in his sleep on July 11, 2011. He is dearly missed.

Safety Crew / Ride Marshals
At every turn, support is there.

The many hours of planning a safe route including creating the deployment plan for a few dozen safety volunteers. Ride Marshals help direct cyclists at every turn along the route. Each of these cyclists will also complete the Ride of Silence, starting out a little early and later continuing their ride with follow/sweep group.
